How to Cook and Shuck a Lobster

How to Cook and Shuck a Lobster
Cooking
1. Place the lobster head first into a pot of boiling water
2. Use tongs to help keep the lobster underwater
3. Cover the pot and cook for approximately 15 minutes
4. The lobster is done cooking when it turns bright red
5. Remove from water and dry with a cloth
Shucking
1. Cut off the rubber band from the claws
2. Grip the lobster firmly by the head and twist off the tail
3. Break of both claws
4. Discard or set aside the lobster's front end to make stock
5. Wipe away any dirt from the flesh using a paper towel
6. Cut through the length of the tail
7. Crack open the shell and remove the tail meat
8. Tear apart the arm from the claws
9. Use a mallet to crack open the claws
10. Remove the shell and extract the claw meat
11. Cut open the legs to access the meat, using a mallet if the shells are too hard
12. Serve immediately with melted butter!
